Minnal Murali, Tovino Thomas’ superhero film, was released on Netflix in December 2021, becoming the first superhero film created by the Malayalam film industry. Minnal Murali garnered enormous popularity and admiration from both the public and critics. A new video has gone viral in which a groom is dressed up as the superhero Minnal Murali for his post-wedding photo. Fans tagged the original superhero, Tovino Thomas, in the video when it went viral.

Amal Raveendran, a groom from Kerala, was inspired by Tovino Thomas’ superhero Minnal Murali for his post-wedding photoshoot. In the video, the groom can be seen dressed as a superhero, while his bride is dressed in a traditional saree. The duo was also spotted sharing garlands.

In an interview with PTI, Tovino Thomas stated that he was open to the idea of entering Bollywood because the character required an actor like him. “Bollywood is endowed with excellent filmmakers,” he says, “but the character must require an actor like me before I will do it.” The actor was offered a role in Amir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha but declined, and the role went to Naga Chaitanya in the end.

Tovino Thomas stated, “I got one offer for a very big film but I had to say no because I was in the middle of shooting for Minnal Murali. I don’t regret it but I do feel disappointed because I had to say no to it because I had no other option. Even though I wanted to do it, I am glad I didn’t compromise on Minnal Murali.”

Minnal Murali bypassed the theatres and debuted only on Netflix on December 24. Tovino plays a tailor who develops superpowers after being struck by lightning in the film. The film follows him as he evolves into the superhero his village requires and battles unexpected opponents.

In addition to Tovino Thomas, the film stars Harisree Ashokan and Aju Varghese in crucial parts. Tovino described the superhero film as “the largest movie of my career considering the magnitude of the movie and the expense involved” in an interview with ANI.
