The Pogues are an island unto themselves on the Outer Banks season two finale. They also come into a new mystery as they try to establish John B’s innocence in the murder of Sheriff Peterkin, just when you thought the treasure quest was done.

The second season of Outer Banks follows John B and Sarah, who flee the OBX in a storm after John B is accused of killing a police officer and are now sought in Nassau. As John B and Sarah try to figure out what to do next, they are pursued by bounty hunters and the local police force, who have discovered that John B is the target of a $50k prize.

Pogues do everything they can to clean John B‘s name in their hometown and make Ward pay. Trying to find proof to exonerate John B from Ward’s accusations, his buddies stumble into a new treasure hunt.

Outer Banks season 2 ended on a bittersweet note, with the five original Pogues — John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), JJ (Rudy Pankow), and Pope (Jonathan Daviss) — stranded on a deserted island, with the newest member of the group, Cleo (Carlacia Grant), officially joining the Pogues.

They may not have recovered the stolen Royal Merchant riches, and they may have lost the gold cross to Rafe (Drew Starkey) and Ward (Charles Esten), and Pope and Kiara’s parents have officially reported them missing, with no food, no means off the island, and no clue of where they are. But, at the very least, they’re all alive and well, living the Pogue dream on their own island.

What they don’t realise is that their season 2 nemesis Carla Limbrey (Elizabeth Mitchell) is busy making moves in Barbados, connecting with none other than John B‘s presumed-dead father Big John (Charles Halford), who is most emphatically not dead despite what everyone has been led to believe.

After Limbrey’s letter to Big John was received, he invited her over to Barbados to assist her discover the old magic healing shroud she’s been searching for (which was not in the cross like she thought) he’ll assist her, but only if she helps him and his son, John B. Pogue’s arch-enemy will become their greatest ally, or vice versa. That’s one way to keep viewers guessing until Netflix renews for season 3.
