In what comes as a shock to cine-enthusiasts, the release of Maneesh Sharma’s 2022 spy thriller film “Tiger 3”, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, was postponed to Diwali 2023. The announcement was made by the film’s makers on Saturday, October 15.

The film has been produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) and was earlier scheduled for release on April 21, 2023, during Eid. However, the release has now been postponed a few months later to Diwali next year, as per the announcement made by a tweet on its official account.

“Diwali 2023, Tiger will roar! Celebrate #Tiger3 with #YRF50 only at a big screen near you. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu,” the tweet by Yash Raj Films read.

The film has been directed by Maneesh Sharma, who is known widely for his prior works in “Fan” and “Band Baaja Baaraat”. Sharma has directed several other movies in his career, including “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, “Ladies vs Ricky Bahl” and “Shuddh Desi Romance”.

Sharma has returned to direction after a gap of six years. The last film he directed before Tiger 3 was the 2016 movie “Fan”, starring Shah Rukh Khan. The film went on to earn a gross collection of Rs 188.4 crore worldwide.

Meanwhile, Tiger 3 is the third film of the franchise, the first of which was the 2012 movie “Ek Tha Tiger”. The 2012 film was directed by Kabir Khan and portrayed how RAW agent Tiger, played by Salman Khan, fell in love with Pakistani spy Zoya, played by Katrina Kaif, during an investigation.

The 2012 film was met with widespread popularity, which resulted in a subsequent film of the franchise in 2017 named “Tiger Zinda Hai”. The second film was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. This film was also based on true events, which portrayed Tiger and Zoya, played by Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, going on a mission to save several hostages from a terrorist organisation in Iraq.
