A blockbuster release seems to be on the way as the trailer of actor Vicky Kaushal‘s upcoming movie ‘Sardar Udham’ was released on Thursday. In the movie, Kaushal plays ‘Sardar Udham Singh’, one of the fiercest and courageous martyrs of India’s freedom movement. The much-anticipated trailer of the Amazon Original Movie ‘Sardar Udham’ was released at a press conference in Mumbai.

Before we discuss it any further, take a look at the trailer.

The trailer takes the audience back into the black history of brutal British rule in India and gives a glimpse into the life of freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh. The story then went on to showcase the incidents that unfold as Singh wows to avenge the life of his brothers who lost their lives in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in 1919.

In 1919, British Viceroy General Dwyer ordered the British troop to fire bullets at the unarmed Indians who were peacefully protesting against the Rowlatt Act in Amritsar’s Jallinwala Bagh. The place had only one narrow exit due to which several Indias were killed.

Coming back to the trailer, the film seems to shed light on Sardar Udham Singh’s plan to take revenge for which, he goes to London in disguise.

The trailer of the movie begins with the introduction of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre with words like ‘1650 rounds fired’, ‘a brutal bloodbath. Then a voiceover can be heard saying “Indians never forget their enemies. They strike them down even after 20 years.”

Then the actor appears on the screen and can be seen explaining to his teammates one of the reasons why he decides to assassinate Michael O’Dwyer in London, “If we strike in London, our message will go to the world,” he says.

Sardar Uddham Singh was a brave revolutionary freedom fighter who assassinated British General Michael O’Dwyer in London. General Dwyer ordered the killing of people in Jallianwala Bagh. The leader is also referred to as Shaheed-i-Azam Sardar Udham Singh.

Singh was convicted of murder and was hanged to death on July 31, 1940, at Pentonville Prison by Albert Pierrepoint.   

The movie will be released on October 16 on Amazon Prime Video.
