‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 has seen Eddie Munson emerge as a fan-favourite and metal fans love him even more for standing up for Iron Maiden and belting out Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’ in the most metal ever concert

The English heavy metal band has responded to the Netflix series reference by saying “We’re with you, Eddie!’.

In the second part, Nancy is under Vecna’s spell and the rest of the group scramble for some music that can snap her mind out of his control. Robin goes through Eddie’s collection and doesn’t find what she’s looking for – namely bands like The Beatles. Eddie, however, holds up an Iron Maiden cassette and exclaims “This is music”.

The series sets up Eddie as a metalhead who is also the president of the Hellfire Club, a group that plays Dungeons and Dragons. The 1980s paranoia with the game makes Eddie a suspect as Vecna leaves a trail of bodies in Hawkins. On the lam, Eddie relies on and befriends Dustin and his group, as they band together to defeat the antagonist from Upside Down. Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, realizes his heroic potential, martyring himself to draw away the bats, allowing Nancy, Steve, and Robin to attack a physically unguarded Vecna who’s engaged in a mental battle against Eleven inside Max’s mind.

While the Iron Maiden scene is a nice tucked-away reference, the Metallica song has become iconic in the latest instalment. The band responded to this, recently, saying “The way the Duffer Brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level, so we were beyond psyched for them to not only include ‘Master of Puppets’ in the show but to have such a pivotal scene built around it. We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away.”
