Babil, son of late actor Irrfan Khan, took to his Instagram account to remember his father on his 54th birth anniversary. In the video, the actor, who died in April last year, can be seen along with his wife Sutapa Sikdar, and their younger son Ayaan. They are seen sending birthday greetings to Babil via a video call.
“You never identified with institutions such as contractual marriage and birthday celebrations. Perhaps, that is why I don’t remember anyone’s birthdays because you never remembered mine and never encouraged me to remember yours. It was just normal to us what seemed absurd from the outside, we celebrated everyday (bringing personal experiential authenticity to the cliche). On the occasion, Mamma would have to remind us both; but this time I could not forget yours if I tried,” wrote Babil along with the video remembering his father.
“It’s your birthday Baba. Shoutout to all the technologically inept parents, notice that they did not finish saying that they miss me,” he further wrote.
In the video, one could also see how Irrfan is struggling with the phone and asking for help from Ayaan.
This is Irrfan’s first birth anniversary since his death in 2020 after a two-year-long battle with a neuroendocrine tumour.
