Kamaal Rashid Khan is a well-known Bollywood actor, producer and writer. He has starred in several Bollywood and Bhojpuri movies and also participated in the popular Indian reality TV show Big Boss in 2019. 

The Indian TV actor was arrested on August 30 after a contentious tweet he had posted two years back which appeared to offend religious sentiments. He was arrested by Mumbai Police following his arrival at the Mumbai Airport. According to Mumbai Police, he would be produced before Borivali Court on 30 August, 2022.

Who is Kamaal Rashid Khan? 

Kamaal Rashid Khan, popularly known as KRK was born on May 20, 1960, in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. He is the youngest among six siblings. He pursued higher education at KLDV College in Roorkee.  KRK was raised in an agricultural household and began helping his father in the fields when he was quite young. When wanted to move to Mumbai to pursue an acting career from an early age. 

His parents did not support him so he moved to Dubai and began working as a technician there. He moved to Mumbai and began acting in modest Hindi and Bhojpuri films. He produced the 2005 movie Sitam to launch his career. He made his acting debut the next year in the Bhojpuri movie Munna Pandey Berozgaar, which was released in 2006.

Due to the potential for riots in the state, the Maharashtra government forbade the distribution of his first independently produced movie, Deshdrohi, in 2008. He was last seen playing the character Brijesh in the 2014 Bollywood film Ek Villain.

According to India TV reports, KRK once shared how his mother almost poisoned him at a young age. He shared his childhood trauma on Mother’s Day and said, “Wish you very happy #MothersDay Mom! Once upon a time, you wanted to give poison but today you are proud of me.?????????”

He then went on to explain and said that his mother feared that he will bring ill repute to the family because of his alleged ‘addiction’ to movies since childhood.

Controversies about KRK

KRK’s acting career has been plagued with controversies as the artist is renowned for taking jibes at almost everyone. Popular Bollywood actors like Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sunny Leone had previously filed defamation cases against him. 

He is also very popular on social media for his viral tweets and sensational comments. A police report (FIR) was filed against KRK for his inflammatory remarks on Twitter, following the deaths of Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. On April 30 of last year, he tweeted about Rishi Kapoor, writing, “Sir, come back well! Stay indoors! Because in only two or three days the booze store will be opening.” 

KRK also recently made headlines for his comments on Amir Khan’s latest release Laal Singh Chadha. He is divorced and has one daughter, Farah Khan and a son Faisal Kamaal Khan.
