Katrina Kincade in Miss America 2023 became the first Muslim woman to represent Massachusetts. She is a journalist at WBZ-TV who made an appearance in the 95th edition of Miss America at the Mohegan Sun. She did not finish in the top 10 positions of the pageant but stole the spotlight and created history after becoming the first Muslim woman to represent the Bay State of Massachusetts.

Kincade in an interview at the Mohegan Sun said, “We always say America is such a melting pot of people and diversity and I like to represent that…I like to tell stories from people who look like me, but also people who haven’t been up here.”

She also grabbed attention for her yellow dress which was also considered one of the best dresses of the pageant. An interesting fact about the dress was that she designed it herself when she was 13 and wearing the same at the pageant was like a dream come true for her.

Who is Katrina Kincade?

Katrina Kincade is 23 years old, born in March 1997, and was born and raised in Boston.

She completed high school in 2015 at Wellesley High school and then went on to do her bachelor’s degree from the American University. There, she studied Broadcast Journalism from 2015 to 2019 with a minor degree in sociology and was also the president of her campus.

Katrina worked at South Shore Mortgage from February 2018 to November 2020 as a head of social media and Public Relations. She joined WWLP in Springfield Massachusetts in June 2019 as a news reporter and worked with the firm till April 2022. She then joined WBZ CBS Boston as a reporter in April 2022.

Apart from working as a journalist, she has worked as a mental health advocate. She was also a volunteer at the Special Olympics.

She won the title of Miss Massachusetts on July 2, 2022, at the Hanover Theatre and Controversy for the Performing Arts, Worcester.

She was then a part of the Miss Universe 2023 beauty pageant and became the first Muslim woman to represent Massachusetts at the pageant.  

According to reports, she is dating a Business Consultant named Peter Cardoz. He is a published researcher and a home food scientist.
