Mike Flanagan is all set to bring a new horror series this Halloween – The Midnight Club – which is going to be released on October 7. The series is an adaptation of a 1994 novel by Christopher Pike, focusing on hospice patients who meet every night to exchange stories.

After
successful works like The Haunting of the Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor
and Midnight Mass, Flanagan’s The Midnight Club has become a highly anticipated
series among his fans and followers. His association with Netflix has resulted
in some unique content and The Midnight Club appears to be another outstanding
creation to be added to the list.

Who is Mike Flanagan?

Mike
Flanagan, an American filmmaker, was born on May 20, 1978 in Salem,
Massachusetts. As his father was in the United States Coast Guard, the family
had to move often. 

Flanagan
was a student at Archbishop Spalding High School in Maryland and attended
Towson University later. He secured his Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Media
& Film and a minor in theater.

Flanagan
has received praise from critics for his direction and lack of dependence on
jump scares. His works have also been appreciated by Stephen King, Quentin
Tarantino
and William Friedkin. 

Some
of his best horror films include Absentia (2011), Hush (2016) and Gerald’s Game
(2017).

Flanagan
is also known for creating, producing and serving as the showrunner of the
supernatural horror anthology series of Netflix named The Haunting. The
Haunting consists of The Haunting of the Hill House (2018) which is a series
that is based on Shirley Jackson’s novel of the same name and The Haunting of
Bly Manor (2020) which is an adaptation of The Turn of the Screw, a horror
novella by Henry James.

2021, he created the Netflix horror mini-series Midnight Mass and his upcoming
series include The Fall of the House of Usher, apart from The Midnight Club.

Flanagan
is married to Kate Siegel, with whom he has two children.
