According to a recent TMZ report, Gap is suing Kanye West for more than $2 million after the rapper ended his connection with the firm back in September.

A corporation by the name of Art City Centre filed a lawsuit against The Gap in October 2022, according to court records acquired by RadarOnline.com. The Gap Inc. was charged with contract violation in the complaint.

A commercial organization called Art City Centre owns a structure on 6th Street in Los Angeles. According to the business, Gap signed a one-year lease for the property. The initial lease period was from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. Gap extended the lease in 2022, according to the lawsuit.

According to Art City Centre, Gap agreed to pay $104,666,67 in rent per month and an additional $8,333 in parking fees. The agreement forbade Gap from altering the structure without permission.

The Gap “completed numerous, significant, unapproved modifications” to the premises, according to the company’s lawsuit, and it has not been put back to its former state.

The business claimed that as of September 2022, it was owed $822k in damages, which are still accruing at a rate of $164k each month. The lawsuit was filed at the same time that Kanye ended his partnership with The Gap, accusing them of not upholding their end of the bargain.

Gap said that Art City Centre was wrong to sue them. In response, Gap sued Kanye West, claiming that he was responsible for all the renovations to the structure. The retailer demanded $2 million in damages from its former partner, claiming that it was not at fault for what Kanye West had done to the structure.

In 2020, Kanye West joined forces with Gap. In 2022, he ended his contract with the business. ‘Ye left Gap a month before he was dropped by Adidas.

The $2 million would cover what Gap would due for the storefront as well as a little extra for legal costs since West backed out of the deal, so now, Gap is seeking to get him to pay the tab instead.
