Recently, Mike Clevinger’s choice of music has become the subject of discussion. The pitcher for the Chicago White Sox entered the game against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday to an unexpected song. He made the choice to use Kanye West‘s “Gold Digger,” according to Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune.

This was a poor song option considering that Mike Clevinger’s alleged child’s mother recently accused the White Sox pitcher of physically and emotionally abusing her and their child.

When asked about the song selection, as per the publication, Clevinger got annoyed at the reporter and said, “Are you a music producer? No? OK. Well, if you have a baseball question, I’m here for you.”

On her Instagram account in January, a lady by the name of Olivia Finestead alleged to be the mother of Clevinger’s one-year-old baby and claimed he had fathered two additional children who were not hers. She shared a picture of marks on her body along with the claim that they were caused by the man throwing an iPad at her while she was pregnant and then finally leaving after strangling her.

“Mike Clevinger you really deserve hell I’ve kept quiet now for almost a year and you continue to covertly abuse your infant,” she said, adding that the pitcher “threw chew spit on our baby.”

Interestingly, after MLB conducted a comprehensive investigation, they declined to charge Clevinger. In fact, he was not suspended nor even fined after the investigation. “The Office of the Commissioner has closed this investigation and, barring the receipt of any new information or evidence, the Office of the Commissioner will not be imposing discipline on Mr. Clevinger in connection with these allegations,” the MLB said.

Clevinger threatened legal action against a local radio station in February over how they described the circumstance. Although he hasn’t been out of the headlines for the past few months, Clevinger’s song selection here might have just rekindled a lot of controversy for him.
