Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday tested positive for coronavirus. 
Taking to his Twitter account, Azad said, “I have
tested positive for COVID-19. I am in home quarantine. Those who came in
contact with me in last few days may kindly follow the protocol.”

Azad, a Congress MP and the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, is the latest in a string of high-profile political leaders to have been infected with the virus recently. 

Earlier, Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Motilal Vora and Abhishek Singhvi had also tested positive for coronavirus.

While Singhvi has made a full recovery, the other are currently receiving treatment.

On Wednesday, Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav tested positive for COVID-19.

Home Minister Amit Shah, Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan are among other Union ministers to have contracted the infection.
