India recorded 132,364 new cases on Thursday, according to the data provided by the Union Health Ministry. This brings the COVID-19 tally of the country to 28,574,350.

According to health ministry data, 2,713 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the death tally to 340,702.
As many as 357,433,846 samples have been tested in the country thus far, including 2,075,428 samples tested on Thursday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said, as reported by ANI.
In the previous 24 hours, the country recorded 207,071 recoveries, bringing the recoveries total to 26,597,655. As a result, daily recoveries continue to outweigh new infections on a daily basis.

Since Wednesday, the number of new infections in India has increased by almost 2,000, health ministry’s data showed, as the country recovers from the devastating second wave of the virus.
India finished a week of registering daily cases under the 200,000-mark on Thursday. When the government began to confront the virus’s tidal wave, daily infections had already reached over 400,000.

On January 16, India began a widespread COVID-19 vaccination campaign, commencing with frontline workers, and as of June 224,109,448 individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
