Akshay Kumar becomes the latest B-town star to speak up about the alleged Bollywood drug nexus and the probe in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.

It was only yesterday that the Bell Bottom actor had announced ‘accomplishing mission Bell Bottom’ on Twitter. Now at his Mumbai home, Kumar recorded a heartfelt message directed towards Bollywood’s fanbase and media, asking them not to develop a prejudice against the film industry.

The mystery surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, eventually brought the Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB) in the picture. After thorough investigation and inquiry, the NCB unveiled an alleged drug racket bouncing off some big names of Bollywood.

Akshay Kumar, who had been shooting at Glasgow and London for the past few weeks, wasn’t a tad bit involved in any accusation. However, the 53-year-old actor posted a little less than 4 minute video on social media, speaking his heart out.

“Today, I’m talking to you with a heavy heart. I want to say so many things in the past few weeks but there is so much negativity everywhere. We may be called stars, but Bollywood has been created because of your love. We are not just an industry, but through our films we have showcased Indian values and culture throughout the world,” Akshay said.

Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik have already been arrested, drug peddlers are on the NCB’s radar and celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor have recorded statements. The sequence of these events falling in rapid succession has created a negative influence on fans, certain media houses feeding influence more than others.

Akshay Kumar believes that the Sushant Singh Rajput case has made Bollywood introspect the not-so- beautiful facet of its personality.

“I’ll be a liar if I say that this problem does not exist in our industry. It exists, just like every industry. But every person in every profession is not involved in such problems. This is impossible,” said the Khiladi Kumar.

“Drugs is a legal matter and I’m totally confident that our law enforcement authorities and courts will conduct a fair investigation into this issue. I know this for a fact that every person from the film industry will cooperate with them in this investigation. It is my request, don’t don’t look at the whole industry with same lens. This is not right,” he added.

Kumar assured cooperation from the industry and requested the media to not damage an artiste’s hard-earned reputation with insensitive coverage.

He ended his monologue by saying that, “We (Bollywood) are because of you.”

“I want to request the media that they continue doing their jobs and raising their voices but with sensitivity. One piece of negative issue can damage a person’s reputation that they built over the years after a lot of hard work,” said Akshay, adding the star status many enjoy in the industry is a result of the love fans shower on them and his aim will always be to change for the better. “My message to all the fans is that you all have made us and we will not let your faith go in vain. If you are upset with us, then we will work extra hard so as to get rid of our flaws. We will win your love and trust. We are because of you,” said the ‘Gold’ actor.
