India made up the largest group of foreign nationals who received skilled worker visas in the United Kingdom. Speaking to The New Indian Express, the British High Commission spokesperson said, “In the last year alone, over 65,500 skilled worker visas were issued to Indian nationals”.

In 2021, there was a 14% rise in the number of Indians getting their skilled worker visas as compared to 2019. Experts believe this is due to the point-based immigration system that has been in effect since Brexit occurred, and the UK ceased to be a part of the European Union (EU)

Last year, London and New Delhi entered into a Migration and Mobility Partnership where there is greater cooperation regarding migration and opening access for the youth of the countries.
