Australia cricketer Ellyse Perry swept
the women’s awards handed out by the International Cricket Council (ICC). She clinched
3 important awards, namely, the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Decade, Women’s T20I Cricketer of the
Decade and Female Player of the Decade.

According to
stats from January 2011 to October 2020, Perry played 100 T20Is, scored 1155 runs and took 89 wickets.

“It has been
tremendous to develop the women’s T20 game and take it forward. Amazing to see
where it’s come from when I was introduced to it,” she said after winning the ICC
Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Decade award.

Perry made
her ODI debut for Australia in 2007 at the age of 16. In this decade,
she played 73 ODI, scored
2621 runs and took 98 wickets.

“Making
my debut for Australia in ODI cricket was an incredibly special experience,
sharing it with the players that I looked up to as a kid growing up,” she said
about winning the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the
Decade award.

Perry also won the Rachael Heyhoe
Flint Award for ICC Female Cricketer of the Decade which is given to the best overall performer
in women’s international cricket during the performance period. The
other players nominated for the award included India’s Mithali Raj, New Zealand’s
Suzie Bates and England’s Sarah
Taylor.

“I feel incredibly
honoured to be voted this given just how man incredible honours are in our
game. It has been amazing to have had the opportunity to play the game against
and with so many of those players,” she said about winning the top honour.
