Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen said Moeen Ali would have joined the ISIS if he was not a cricketer
The remarks came after reports emerged that Ali had asked CSK to remove a beer brand logo from his jersey
England cricketers Jofra Archer, Saqib Mahmood, and Sam Billings were among those who slammed Nasreen
Bangladeshi author and activist Taslima Nasreen made a distasteful tweet on England cricketer Moeen Ali. The 58-year-old author stated that Ali would have travelled to Syria to join the ISIS if he had not been a cricketer.
She took aim at the cricketer after reports emerged that he had asked the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management to remove a beer brand logo from his jersey but the rumors were denied by the franchise later.
The author's tweet caused a lot of buzz on social media and has been slammed by many users for her disrespectful tweet. Ali's fellow English cricketers Jofra Archer, Saqib Mahmood, and Sam Billings, were among a wave of Twitter users who slammed the author's remarks.
Taslima has been in exile for more than 25 years after a 'fatwa' was issued against her for criticizing Islam by a fundamentalist Islamic Foundation in 1993.
