Actor Shefali Shah couldn’t believe her ears when she heard that
the series in which she was one of the protagonists won the International Emmy for Best Drama.

Delhi Crime, a Netflix show based on the infamous Delhi rape incident which
occurred in 2012, won the award at the 48th International Emmy Awards on Monday.

The announcement was made via a video link and the award was accepted –also via
a video link—by the series director Richie Mehta, who thanked members of the
cast and crew for the show.

Shah couldn’t hide her jubilation at the announcement and
screamed “oh my god”.

The series was commissioned for a second season right after
the first one was aired.

According to its makers, the show will take the form of an
anthology series with the depiction of a new crime every season.

Shah, as Vartika Chaturvedi, had played the role of Delhi
Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma, who had led the team of cops that solved
the crime and nabbed the six culprits, including a juvenile.

Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain were the other
actors among the lead cast for the show.

‘Delhi Crime’ was not the sole entry from India at the
awards.

Actor Arjun Mathur was nominated for the Best Actor category
for his performance in the Prime Video’s original ‘Made In Heaven’. Also, ‘Four
More Shots’, an Amazon Prime show too was nominated for the ‘Best Comedy Series’.
Both entries didn’t win the award.
