Etah assembly constituency has Vipin Verma David of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) taking on Ajay Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Jugendra Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Umeshkant of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Gunjan Mishra of the Congress this year in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Vipin Verma David had won the Etah seat in 2017, when the BJP swept Uttar Pradesh winning 312 of UP’s 403 assembly seats. David had beaten his closest rival Jugendra Singh Yadav by over 21,129 votes. Jugendra Singh Yadav had contested that election on a SP ticket.

In 2012, the seat was won by Ashish Kumar Yadav of the SP.

Etah falls under the Etah district and the Etah Lok Sabha constituency, which is made up of five assembly seats. 

Rajveer Singh of the BJP represented Etah as a member of Parliament in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Singh defeated Ku. Devendra Singh Yadav from the SP with a margin of 1,22,670 votes.

The Etah assembly constituency will vote in the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections on February 20, 2022, along with 58 other constituencies in 16 districts. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven rounds, with the last round on March 3. 

Results will be declared on March 10, along with those for elections in four other states, including neighbouring Uttarakhand.
