Death of
celebrities who entertained us for decades feels like a personal loss to us and
when it’s from the deadly disease cancer, it heartwrenching. Looking at their
active and royal lifestyle, we forget that they are humans and might be
suffering in their personal life.

Here are
few celebrities who suffered from the fatal disease of cancer. While some
succumbed to death, some stood out victorious. On this World Cancer Day, let’s
know their struggle with the deadly disease.

Irrfan Khan: The ‘Angrezi Medium’ actor lost his life to colon infection on April 29, 2020 for which he was also admitted to Kokilaben hospital one day before his death. Khan was fighting with neuroendocrine cancer since 2018, which he announced on his social media. Neuroendocrine Tumour is a rare type of cancer that occurs when the cells connecting with your nervous system (neuroendocrine cells) begin to grow uncontrollably and form a tumour.

Rishi
Kapoor:
Veteran actor who suffered from leukemia, a kind of blood cancer, died on April 30, 2020. He was diagnosed with this cancer in 2018, following
which he took a break from acting without revealing his disease on Twitter.
However, Kapoor was treated in New York for a long time but eventually lost
his fight to cancer.

Leukemia is a kind of blood cancer in which white blood
cells (WBCs) that helps to protect your body from foreign invasion of dangerous
pathogens and abnormal cells increase uncontrollably.

Sonali
Bendre:
The 90s superstar was diagnosed with Metastatic cancer in
July 2018. Bendre shared the news on her social media and said that she has
been diagnosed with a ‘high-grade cancer’ that has metastised. Although she successfully
battled her cancer in New York and returned to Mumbai in December 2018, she mentioned that she still have to go for regular check-ups. In metastatic
cancer, the cancerous cells travel through lymph system or bloodstream to new
areas in the body and form tumours.

Tahira Kashyap: Writer and filmmaker was found to
be suffering from ‘Stage 0’ of breast cancer in 2018 but soon she beat the
cancer. Wife of actor Ayushmann Khurrana was also very vocal about her battle
with breast cancer post her recovery. Stage 0 breast cancer or ductal carcinoma
in situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive cancer in which abnormal, cancerous cells grow
in the lining of the breast milk duct.

Sanjay
Dutt:
The actor was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in August 2020. The news
of his illness was confirmed by trade analyst Komal Nahta on Twitter. Dutt also
took to his social media and informed his fans about his health update.
However, soon in October 2020, the actor defeated the cancer. He posted a
statement about his health which said that the last few weeks were very
difficult but he has emerged victorious in the battle. The most advanced stage
of the lung cancer in which the disease has travelled from lungs to other parts
of the body through lymph system or bloodstream.
