From leading India’s non-violent movement of freedom from the ruthless British rule to introducing principles of ideal governance and society, Mahatma Gandhi guided the nation and the posterity like a father in the true sense. This is why the Congress leader was venerated as the Father of Nation.

Born in Porbandar, Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi, who was also a great thinker and writer, made a tremendous contribution to the making of a free India. His thought and ideals made such an impact on the generations that people from Europe and America wanted to be his disciples. As the country braces to celebrate another birth anniversary of one of history’s greatest leaders, let’s remember some of his precious ideals of life and humanity.

Self Respect

Almost all of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings were based on the idea of Self-respect. According to Gandhi Ji, Self Respect is the product of every person’s feeling of confidence in their abilities and potential. He also believed that a person’s goodness had a role to play in a person’s self-respect.

Sarvodya

Gandhi’s thoughts on Sarvodya and the way he explained it to the nation is probably one of the biggest contributions he made for India. The leader’s thoughts on Sarvodaya can be summed up in three of his quotes.

“The good of the individual is contained in the welfare of all.”

“All have the same right of earning their livelihood from their work.”

“That life of labour is the life worth living.”

Non-Violence

The entire world knows that Mahatma Gandhi taught everyone how the biggest battles in life can be fought and won without any bloodshed or aggression. Gandhi was a stringent preacher of non-violence and always condemned the violence.

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong,” said Gandhi.
