International actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas while talking to Oprah Winfrey on her show ‘Super Souls’, said she did not stand up to the demeaning director who asked her to strip off her clothes for a seductive song sequence as she was scared.

Chopra, who was thrown into the show business even before she turned 18, said, “I was so scared. I was new in the entertainment business and girls are always told that ‘you don’t want to get a reputation of being hard to work with.’ So I worked within the system.”

Priyanka was crowned as Miss World at 17 and acting in Bollywood movies followed suit naturally.

“I was thrown into the deep, and so badly. I didn’t come from a pageant family. I didn’t come from desiring that. I never thought I could be part of it. At 17, when you’re thrown into this crazy world of pageants internationally and movies, I was just trying to keep my head above water at that point,” Chopra said.

In her book, Priyanka has narrated the incident where she was required to strip off her clothes one item at a time for a seductive song sequence. But when she asked the director if she should layer up for the shot, he suggested she talk to her stylist.

“The director suggested I speak to my stylist, so I called him and briefly explained the situation, then passed the phone to the director. Standing right in front of me, the director said: “Jo bhi ho, chaddiyan dikhni chahiyen. Nahi toh log picture kyon dekhne aayenge?” which translates as “whatever happens, panties should be seen.” Otherwise, why would people come to watch the movie?” wrote Priyanka in the book.

Chopra recently added ‘author’ to the long list of hats she wears with her memoir “Unfinished” which released in February.
