The ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) on Tuesday canceled class 10 board examinations in view of a rise in COVID-19 cases across the country. Class 12 exams (offline) will be conducted at a later date, ANI reported. 

“Given the present worsening situation of the COVID- 19 pandemic in the country, the CISCE has decided to CANCEL the ICSE (Class X) 2021 Examination. The options given in the earlier Circular dated 16th April 2021, now stands withdrawn. The safety and wellbeing of our students and teaching faculty is our topmost priority and of paramount interest,” read a notice from the board. 

On April 16, the board had deferred the board exams of classes 10 and 12.

“In light of the nationwide surge in coronavirus cases, the class 10 and 12 exams which were to be held from May 4 have been deferred,” Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations’ chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon had said.
