Harshal Patel, Glenn Maxwell rip apart CSK
CSK, in reply, made a terrific start scoring 50 in the PowerPlay with Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring 28 off 23 balls, while Devon Conway played 56 runs innings.
However, removals of Gaikwad and Robin Uthappa in two back to back overs derailed CSK’s chase. In the 10th over, Robin Uthappa was bowled by Maxwell. From 54 for 1, CSK were reduced to 75 for 3 in 10 overs.

Moeen Ali played a quickfire innings of 34 off 27 balls with two sixes and as many boundaries to salvage CSK’s innings. But the Yellow Brigade lost the plot again when Harshal Patel removed Ali and Ravindra Jadeja on the 16th and 18th over.
Patel and Maxwell shared five wickets between themselves while Shahbaz Ahmed and Wanindu Hasaranga got one each. With Josh Hazlewood removing Dhoni in the first delivery of the 19th over, CSK were out of the contest. They were eventually restricted to 160 for 8 in 20 overs.
This was CSK’s seventh defeat in IPL 2022. They won just three matches.
