Khushboo%20Sundar%20has%20returned%20to%20Chennai%20after%20completing%20the%20formalities%20associated%20with%20her%20crossing%20over%20into%20the%20BJP%2C%20without%20being%20able%20to%20meet%20either%20Prime%20Minister%20Narendra%20Modi%20or%20Amit%20Shah%20the%20Union%20Home%20Minister.%20For%20now%20she%20has%20to%20make%20do%20with%20meeting%20party%20chief%20J.P.%20Nadda.%20A%20meeting%20with%20the%20big%20two%20is%20likely%20to%20happen%20sometime%20in%20the%20future.
Speaking%20exclusively%20to%20Opoyi%20over%20the%20phone%20from%20Chennai%2C%20Khushboo%20says%20she%20decided%20to%20end%20her%20tryst%20with%20the%20Congress%20party%20%22because%20it%20was%20not%20like%20what%20it%20seemed%20from%20the%20outside%u201D.%20Of%20course%20its%20another%20matter%20that%20it%20took%20her%206%20years%20to%20realise%20that.%20This%20is%20not%20the%20first%20time%20that%20the%20cine%20star%20turned%20politician%20has%20changed%20parties.%20She%20joined%20the%20Congress%20party%20in%202014%20after%20leaving%20the%20DMK.%20While%20in%20the%20Congress%20party%20she%20was%20a%20trenchant%20critic%20of%20the%20BJP%20and%20Prime%20Minster%20Modi%20and%20insists%20that%20she%20has%20only%20changed%20party%20while%20her%20ideology%20%u201Cremains%20the%20same%u201D.%20Mr%20Modi%20And%20many%20others%20would%20be%20interested%20in%20knowing%20what%20exactly%20she%20means%20by%20this.
Khushboo%20Sundar%20insists%20she%20left%20the%20Congress%20party%20because%20she%20was%20being%20%u201Csuppressed%20by%20people%20within%20the%20party%20who%20saw%20her%20as%20a%20competition%20for%20their%20children%2C%20and%20were%20jealous%20of%20her%20popularity.%20%22It%u2019s%20not%20the%20Gandhi%u2019s%2C%20they%20are%20not%20insecure%20its%20the%20people%20below%20them%20some%20in%20Delhi%20and%20others%20in%20Tamil%20Nadu%20who%20felt%20insecure%20because%20of%20me%2C%22%20says%20Khushboo.
She%20claims%20she%20tried%20raising%20the%20issue%20with%20the%20central%20leadership%20of%20the%20party%20but%20nothing%20changed.%20%22I%20explained%20everything%20at%20length%20to%20Rahul%20Gandhi%2C%20he%20patiently%20heard%20me%20out%2C%20but%20those%20around%20him%20did%20not%20allow%20him%20to%20change%20things%2C%22%20says%20Khushboo.%20The%20last%20time%20she%20was%20able%20to%20meet%20Rahul%20Gandhi%20according%20to%20her%20was%20two%20years%20ago%2C%20after%20that%20despite%20repeated%20requests%20she%20was%20unable%20to%20meet%20him.%20%22There%20is%20no%20democracy%20in%20the%20way%20the%20party%20functions%2C%20in%20fact%20there%20is%20more%20nepotism%2C%20everybody%20is%20busy%20protecting%20and%20promoting%20their%20own%20in%20the%20Congress%20party%2C%22%20alleges%20Khushboo.
Now%20that%20Khushboo%20is%20a%20member%20of%20the%20BJP%2C%20she%20finds%20the%20Congress%20party%u2019s%20all%20out%20opposition%20to%20the%20Prime%20Minister%20%22totally%20wrong%22.%20In%20her%20opinion%20the%20opposition%20party%27s%20must%20also%20come%20up%20with%20solutions%20not%20just%20oppose%20all%20the%20time.%20When%20pointed%20out%20that%20wasn%u2019t%20the%20BJP%20too%20guilty%20of%20the%20same%20when%20it%20was%20in%20the%20Opposition%2C%20she%20side%20stepped%20the%20question%20and%20pointed%20to%20the%20constructive%20suggestive%20suggestions%20that%20the%20late%20Atal%20Behari%20Vajpayee%20used%20to%20come%20up%20with.
Khushboo%20was%20at%20pains%20to%20deny%20that%20she%20had%20bargained%20for%20an%20assembly%20or%20Rajya%20Sabha%20ticket%20before%20joining%20the%20BJP%20%22I%20did%20not%20ask%20for%20anything%20and%20neither%20was%20I%20promised%20anything%20in%20return%22%20she%20says.%20She%20was%20one%20of%20the%20star%20campaigners%20for%20the%20Congress%20in%20Tamil%20Nadu%20and%20the%20BJP%20which%20is%20trying%20to%20gain%20a%20foothold%20in%20the%20state%20is%20likely%20to%20use%20her%20in%20a%20big%20way%20in%20the%20lead%20upto%20and%20during%20the%20state%20assembly%20elections.%20Khushboo%20is%20known%20to%20speak%20her%20mind%2C%20even%20if%20it%20sometimes%20is%20not%20in%20tune%20with%20the%20party.%20She%20got%20away%20with%20it%20in%20the%20Congress%2C%20but%20given%20the%20disciplined%20cadre-based%20nature%20of%20the%20BJP%2C%20it%20remains%20to%20be%20seen%20if%20she%20will%20be%20allowed%20a%20free%20rein%20to%20air%20her%20views.
