Kerala and Delhi lead the charge in vaccinating against
COVID-19 in the country. The two states are only 22% short of their target
numbers while Bihar, Rajasthan and West Bengal have the highest shortfall in
inoculation.

While Bihar falls short by 71%, Bengal and Rajasthan are
66% short of target. The shortfall in a state is calculated as a percentage of
its population, according to an analysis of publicly available data by NDTV.

As a whole, the country’s vaccination shortfall is 54%.

Even though Delhi and Kerala have made strides in their
vaccination attempts, they are still a far way from vaccinating 60% of their
populations by December.

While Kerala has vaccinated 1 crore people so far, Delhi
has managed to inoculate over 86 lakh, according to government data.

The worrying aspect of the vaccination numbers is that
some of the biggest states with a combined population of nearly 60 crore are
falling behind in inoculating their populations.

so far.

the top five states which have relatively low vaccination shortfall.

The other end of the spectrum is bleak. While Bihar tops
the chart among the poorly-performing states in terms of vaccination with a 71%
shortfall, Rajasthan and West Bengal follow suit with 66% shortfall each.

Bihar has vaccinated 1.8 crore people, Rajasthan 2.6 crore
and West Bengal 2.36 crore.

West Bengal is followed by Uttar Pradesh which has a
vaccination shortfall of 64%. The country’s biggest state, Uttar Pradesh has
