KL Rahul scored a thrilling half century off 32 balls at the PCA Stadium, Mohali against the visiting Australian team in the 1st T20. With this knock, he became the 3rd fastest player and 2nd fastest Indian to score 2000 T20I runs in 58 innings. He beat the likes of Brendon Mccullum, Martin Guptill and Rohit Sharma to achieve this milestone.
He is now just behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam and ex-India captain Virat Kohli who took 52 and 56 innings respectively.

Rahul lately hasn’t been in good form. The Lucknow Super Giants batter, scored 132 runs in five innings at an average of 26.40 and a strike rate of 122.22 in the recently conclued Asia Cup 2022. He struggled against both pace and spin and was unable to capitalise on beginnings.
On Tuesday, though, Rahul, who was trolled for his bad form, hit three boundaries and as many sixes on his way to reaching his 19th half century.

The Indian vice captain showed his intent in just the third over, hitting Aussie bowler Josh Hazlewood for a huge 85m six. He continued scoring inspite of wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli falling on the other end. Later, he struck Cameron Green for a 92-meter six-over-backward square leg and again a four after that. The 30-year-old also hit spinner Glenn Maxwell over mid-wicket for a maximum.

When India were reduced for 35/2, he also rebuilded the innings with Suryakumar Yadav. He reached his fifty in the 11th over of the game, just after the drinks break, by taking a single of Adam Zampa. He nearly got out in the third bowl of the next over after Maxwell nearly catches the ball after running to the right. However, he couldn’t stay for long after as Hazlewood sent him to the pavilion in the very next ball. KL Rahul was attempting to drive over deep square leg. The catch was taken by Nathan Ellis, ending his innings.
