It was a disappointing time with the bat for KL Rahul during India’s first T20I against England on Friday. Opening the innings, Rahul was bowled by Jofra Archer for just one run in the second over. However, Rahul made a sensational fielding effort at the boundary to win the hearts of the fans.

It was during the fourth over in the second innings. Axar Patel was bowling and Jos Buttler came down the track to hit the ball straight in the year.

The ball was quite high and seemed like it would go for a six. But Rahul, who was standing at the boundary had other plans. He dived backwards, caught the ball and threw it inside the field before touching the ground. England only made two runs of the ball.

Despite India’s poor performance, fans were mesmerised with Rahul’s effort and took to Twitter to applaud him.

The visitors won the first of the five T20Is quite comfortably, chasing down a low total of 125 set by India.

In the first innings, it was an Indian top-order collapse that saw Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli going back to the pavilion scoring single digits. A knock of 67 by youngster Shreyas Iyer then took India to 124 in 20 overs.
