The Kolkata Metro Railway on Wednesday issued a set of do’s and don’ts for passengers planning to make use of it as a preferred mode of conveyance, as per a PTI report. The guidelines mentioned strictly adheres to the COVID-19 safety norms set by the government.

The Kolkata Metro Railway has asked its passengers to wear masks covering face and nose. Passengers will also have to sanitise their hands from sanitary dispensers placed at each platform, before boarding a train, reported PTI quoting a Metro Railway official.

Metro Railway general manager Manoj Joshi had inspected several stations of the city’s rapid transit system on Tuesday and had stated that the final date for resumption of services would be fixed shortly.

The Metro Railway has also asked passengers to use their smart cards only for availing metro services, passengers will also have to download the Aarogya Setu App on their smartphones. It has also stated that tokens will not be used.

Passengers will also have to get their body temperatures checked through thermal screening at the time of entry to a Metro station. Passengers will also have to use only specified gates for entry and exits.

Metro authorities have said that passengers having symptoms of fever, cough or cold should not undertake a journey in its trains.

It has also said, “elders and children should not undertake a Metro journey.” Officials have also said that spitting at station premises is strictly prohibited and is a punishable offence.
