Bihar’s Lauriya Assembly constituency elected incumbent Vinay Bihari of BJP for the third consecutive time in 2020 Assembly elections. Bihari defeated RJD’s Shambhu Tiwari by a margin of 29,004 votes. Polling for the Lauriya Assembly constituency was held on November 7, in Phase II of Bihar Assembly polls. 

The Lauriya Vidhan Sabha constituency is retained by Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP)
leader Vinay Bihari, who defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Ran
Kaushal Pratap Singh by a margin of 17,573 votes to prevail in the 2015
assembly elections.

Vinay Bihari won the 2010 elections as
well, although as an independent candidate. He was preceded by Pradeep Singh of
Janata Dal (United), who won the February and October elections in 2005, and
the Congress’ Vishwa Mohan Singh, who won the 2000 assembly elections.

Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, Lauriya Vidhan Sabha
constituency is composed of the Yogapatti and parts of the Lauriya  community development blocks.
