Director Karan Johar on Friday issued a statement on social media, clarifying that the reports of ‘narcotics consumption’ at his party were wrong and misleading. Talking about the party hosted at his house on July 18, 2019, he said, “In the view of the current malicious campaign, I am reiterating that the allegations are completely baseless and false.” 

“No narcotics substance was consumed in the party. I WOULD LIKE TO UNEQUIVOCALLY ONCE AGAIN STATE THAT I DO NOT CONSUME NARCOTICS AND I DO NOT PROMOTE OR ENCOURAGE CONSUMPTION OF ANY SUCH SUBSTANCE,” he wrote. 

The renowned Bollywood director further said that media reports of Kshijit Prasad and Anubhav Sinha being his ‘close aides’ are false. “I would like to place on record that I do not know these individuals personally and neither of these two individuals are “aides” or “close aides”.”

“NEITHER I, NOR DHARMA PRODUCTIONS CAN BE MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT PEOPLE DO IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES. THESE ALLEGATIONS DO NOT PERTAIN TO DHARMA PRODUCTIONS,” Johar’s statement read.

Kshitij Ravi Prasad, Dharma Productions’ executive producer, was quizzed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday in the ongoing drug-angle probe linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Prakash’s WhatsApp chats included conversations about drugs with one `D’ and the central agency wanted to find out who this person was, NCB sources had said earlier, PTI reports

The 34-year-old actor was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14, and three agencies, CBI, ED and NCB are probing different angles linked to his death. 

The 48-year-old producer added in his statement, “…the media has resorted to distasteful, distorted and false allegations. I hope the members of the media would exercise restraint else I will be left with no option but to legally protect my rights against this baseless attack on me.”

The NCB on Friday also questioned Bollywood actor Rakul Preet, actor Rakul Preet Singh, Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash in the ongoing drug probe. The anti-narcotics bureau has also summoned Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor. Padukone and Kapoor along with Sara Ali Khan will be questioned by the NCB on Saturday.
