Actor Rhea Chakraborty was charged by the Narcotics Control Bureau for buying drugs for her actor-boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput, who died more than two years ago, NDTV reported.

More than 30 people have been named in the new charge sheet filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau. In addition to Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik’s name has also been added to the list.

The Narcotics Control Bureau said that Rhea Chakraborty had previously received and delivered marijuana, a controlled substance in India, for actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She also paid for the marijuana on behalf of the late Bollywood actor, according to reports from NDTV citing the country’s anti-drugs agency.

Rhea Chakraborty was quick to react to the new charges and called them a “witch hunt”, NDTV reported. The 30-year-old could face up to 10 years in jail, if convicted.

Rhea Chakraborty has been in the spotlight since her arrest in September 2020, months after his partner Sushant Singh Rajput died. She was granted bail by the Bombay High Court roughly one month after she was arrested.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is still being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Police officials have called it a suicide.

Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Siddharth Pithani, the former flatmate of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, arrested in a drug case related to the actor’s death.
