Former Trinamool Congress MP Sisir Adhikari on Sunday joined the BJP in one of Home Minister Amit Shah’s rallies in West Bengal.

Adhikari, father to BJP Leader Suvendu Adhikarion Sunday appeared at one of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rallies in Egra, West Bengal, said him and his family were with the latter in their quest to ‘save Bengal’.

“Save Bengal from atrocities, we are with you, our family is with you. Jai Siya Ram, Jai Bharat”, Adhikari was quoted by ANI as saying.

In his rally on Sunday, the Home Minister fired away at the TMC government currently in power in the state, questioning its policies as well as promising the people of taking ‘action’ if BJP comes to power on May 2.

He further noted that the party, upon coming to power, would rid West Bengal of ‘infiltrators’ within five years, while also promising to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ using the double-engine government at centre and state within the same time frame.

“Didi gave the slogan of ‘Maa, maati, manush’ but did change come? Can she give you freedom from infiltrators? We will make Bengal free of infiltrators in five years”, Amit Shah was quoted by ANI as saying.

“Our 130 cadres were killed. Goons of TMC shouldn’t think that they will be spared. We will take action when our government comes to power in West Bengal on May 2”, he reportedly further said.

He seemingly had a little for everyone, as the Home Minister informed that the seventh pay commission too would be implemented if BJP was voted to power.

Meanwhile, Sisir Adhikari also made clear his political step forward earlier on Sunday, saying he would join BJP to fight against Mamata Banerjee and “save the honour of Midnapore”, as quoted by PTI.

Notably, the Adhikari family wields significant influence in the Purba Medinipur district.

Nandigram, one of the key assembly constituencies in the upcoming elections, is also located in Purba Medinipur.

The seat will see two political heavyweights fight it out, as former TMC minister Suvendu Adhikari will be going up against party supremo and Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.
