Candian YouTuber and TV personality Lilly Singh became the latest international celebrity to talk about the ongoing farmers’ protest in India. She took to her Twitter account to address the issue and also thanked Rihanna for starting the conversation.

“Yes! Thank you so much @rihanna. This is a humanity issue! #IStandWithFarmers and this narrative is TIRED. ❤️ (sic),” she posted while retweeting the pop star’s post in which she is asking the people that “why aren’t we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest.”

Rihanna, the first global star to voice her support for the protest, also shared a news report that talks about the internet suspension around New Delhi following the violent clash between police and farmers. Her post spread like wildfire on the internet with many likes and re-tweets within an hour.

Thousands of farmers, primarily from the states of Punjab and Haryana, have been camped in various border points around Delhi for over two months in protest against the agriculture reform laws passed during the Monsoon session of the Parliament last year.

Many Bollywood celebrities reacted to Rihanna’s post. While Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut didn’t like her take on the issue and called her ‘fool’, other stars like Swara Bhasker, Richa Chadha, and Hansal Mehta lauded the international celebrity for taking the brave stand.

Richa Chadha reacted to Rihanna with a heart, hands joined in prayer emoji and a bow and arrow emoji and so is Swara Bhasker who used emojis to express her gratitude to the 32-year-old.

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, who was supporting farmer’s protest since day one, also shared a photo of Rihanna on his Instagram stories.
