Three construction workers died after a two-storeyed building collapsed on Monday in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, ANI reported. Police reached the site and fire personnel were present to carry out rescue operations. 

Locals gathered near a fire engine parked at the site where the building collapsed.

According to media reports, the owner of the building had ordered for the demolition and was in the process of reconstructing it.

The deceased have been identified as Chandran (60) from Virudhunagar district, Raman (55) and Jayaraman (55) from Madurai district, as per the reports. The workers did not have any protective gear while demolishing the building. 

Three other workers escaped the collapse with minor injuries.
