The tigress “Sultana” claimed the life of a dog in Ranthambore National Park as can be seen in the viral video posted on December 28 on YouTube.
A dog can be seen roaming around cars full of tourists when the tigress suddenly pounces on the canine. The attack was witnessed by numerous tourists who were peeking out of their jeeps. In the video, one can hear the person recording yelling, “Pakad li, pakad li”, as well as, “Peeche karo, peeche karo”. The tourists by and large kept calm during the incident.

The overwhelming responses on Twitter raised questions about the rising population of dogs, which leads to the transmission of deadly diseases in tigers such as canine distemper, a disease that essentially attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems. It poses a threat to all dogs, especially puppies that are unvaccinated or are under four months of age.

Sultana was born to Noor aka T- 39, also known as the great mother of Ranthambore. She is presumed to be born around July- August 2016 and is the dominant tigress of the Singhdwar-Sultanpur-Kala -Peela-Pani, Khemcha- Kund, Phootah-Bhanda, Krishna ka Deh, Soleshwar, Chuli-Deh and Amareshwar-Dang areas of the National Park.
This clip has been making the rounds on social media and has instantly gained a lot of traction. It has already crossed 36k views, 283 retweets and 1.1k likes on Twitter.
