Indian skipper Virat Kohli announced his decision to step down as
the captain of IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore after the end of this
season. In a video uploaded on the official twitter handle of RCB Kohli announces,
“This will be my last IPL as
captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game.
I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me.”

Devdutt Padikkal

The 20-year-old joined the franchise in IPL 2020 and made a
lasting impression on the fans in his debut season. He cemented his place in
the starting XI by performing consistently. His contributions led
the team to a top-four finish. They were knocked out of the tournament in the
playoffs, playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He was RCB’s highest scorer in IPL 2020 scoring 473 in just 15
matches. He recorded five half-centuries and won the emerging player of the
year award for his brilliant performances. In the first half of IPL 2021, he
recorded his first IPL century against Rajasthan Royals and has great potential
for leading the team from the front.

Glenn Maxwell

The Australian all-rounder was snatched by RCB for a whopping price
of Rs 14.25 crore. He is very familiar with the tournament and has been
participating in it since 2012, representing various franchises throughout his
career. He has had a stellar season for RCB until now, making 223 runs in just
7 matches and scoring two half-centuries. The ‘Maximum’ man plays with a strike
rate of 153 and if appointed as captain, he might be able to lead RCB to IPL
glory with his experience.

AB de Villiers

Mr. 360 has been an irreplaceable part of this team. He carries
the heart and soul of the team. Even at 37 he is one of the most important
batsmen of the team. He has singlehandedly led the team to victory on a number
of occasions. His exploits are known to all the cricket fans and is the 6th
highest run-scorer in the history of IPL. A team cannot go wrong with ABD at
the helm.
