Himachal Traffic, Tourist and Railways Police shared a video on social media which shows a massive landslide blocking the highway. In the video, boulders can be seen tumbling down the slope amid a cloud of dust.

The landslide, which occurred in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, has blocked the National Highway 5 that connects Firozpur in Punjab with Shipki La on the India-China border.

According to ANI, an incident of landslide that occurred near Jeori- Sub-division Rampur District Shimla has blocked NH-05 road. No loss of life or property was reported.

The district administration has directed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Rampur, and a police team to assess the situation.

In last one month, Himachal Pradesh has been recording heavy rainfall, which has resulted in landslides.

On August 28, a landslide between Aut and Pandoh in the Mandi district blocked the Chandigarh-Manali National Highway. Last month, a landslide in Kinnaur district killed 13 people died and left several vehicles buried under debris.

A state-run bus, a truck and a few cars were trapped after the landslide blocked the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway.

The heavy rainfall in the state also led to flash floods and cloud bursts, killing several people.

On July 12, flash floods in Dharamshala were inundated washed away shops, vehicles and trees. The flood in Dharamshala’s Bhagsu Nag was triggered by a cloudburst.

Earlier this year, an avalanche near a power project in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district killed around 150 people and resulted in sudden rise in water level in Dhauliganga river. According to ANI, the flash floods have washed away a bridge, damaged a power station and forced mass evacuation of people living along the banks.
