The landfall process of cyclone Yaas began at around 9 am on Wednesday near Odisha’s Balasore. The residential areas in Dhamra of Bhadrak district got flooded with seawater. The video shared by news agency ANI showed the area hit by heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Another similar video showed seawater entering residential areas along New Digha Sea Beach in West Bengal’s East Midnapore.
Yet another video shared by the news agency had similar visuals of the turbulent sea and strong winds witnessed in Digha of West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district.
Due to the ‘very severe cyclonic storm‘ Yaas, five sub-divisions and blocks of West Bengal and four of Odisha are expected to be inundated. These include Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Kanthi, Diamond harbour, Basirhat, Tamluk and Uluberia.

The landfall process, which began at around 9 am, continues for about three to four hours.
