A video of a mother dropping her 3-year-old in a wild bear enclosure has spread like wildfire on the internet. The footage has been widely shared on social media platforms, with many social media users appalled by the woman’s actions. 

The incident took place at Tashkent zoo in Uzbekistan. The footage displays the woman deliberately dropping her child from the railings. As soon as the child drops in the enclosure, a brown bear glances at the 3-year-old and quickly runs away. 

The woman has been charged by the police with attempted murder.

According to the New York Post, onlookers watched the woman dangle and then drop her child in an enclosed trench nearly 16-feet below. 

According to witnesses, the bear, named Zuzu, sniffed the child and ran away. 

Soon after the incident, zoo officials quickly rescued the child after luring the animal to a part of its enclosure. The video shows six zookeepers rushing to save the baby.

According to Daily Mail, the anonymous woman was charged with attempted murder and might face a 15-year jail sentence if convicted. The woman’s 3-year-old daughter has been hospitalized with a head injury and other wounds caused by the fall. She is under observation.

According to India Today, a spokesperson of the zoo stated, “A young woman threw a little girl down into a brown bear’s enclosure, in front of all the visitors. He added, “It was completely unclear what her motive was. Both visitors and zoo staff were trying to stop her, but failed.”

A video of the incident posted on Twitter has garnered over 13,000 views and several comments. One user wrote, “How many people had seen earlier warning signs in the mother but turned a blind eye? Some people should have no access to kids, including their own. I hope that traumatized child has a better life going forward, but what about prevention of child abuse?”

Another user shed light on anti-abortion laws and added, “Prepare to see an explosion of child tragedies as the abortion ban forces babies on people — some only children — who don’t want and can’t care for them.”
