Virat Kohli was at his best against Pakistan during the Super 4 Asia Cup 2022 tie on Sunday. The former India captain scored 60 runs in 44 balls to steer his team to a competitive 181-run total at the Dubai International Stadium. However, Babar Azam and co won the match by five wickets.
Kohli’s innings was laced with four boundaries and a six along with his signature running between the wickets where he effortlessly converted ones into twos. His 50 came off 36 balls when Hasnain was deposited into the mid-wicket stands.

Chasing 182 runs, Pakistan needed a special 71-run knock by Mohammad Rizwan and some fireworks by Mohammad Nawaz (42 off 20) to win the game.
After the match, Kohli spoke abot his difficult days. The batter has not scored a century in more than 1000 days. He stepped down as India’s Test and T20I captaincy. He was sacked as the ODI skipper.

Talking about his predecessor MS Dhoni’s gesture when he stepped down as Test captain, Kohli, in the post-match conference, said, “When I left Test captaincy I got message only from MS Dhoni and nobody else. Lot of people have my number but only he had called. There are some connections with are genuine and it has some security. If you want to give me suggestions give me one-on-one.”

Kohli has scored two half-centuries in the ongoing Asia Cup. He had made 35 runs in the first game against Pakistan. The run-machine seems to have found his touch, which is a big positive for India ahead of the T20 World Cup.
He further added that Dhoni’s gesture meant a lot for him.

“So, the moments like these prove if you have genuine respect and connection with someone because there is a sense of security on both ends. Neither does he want something from me, nor do I want anything from him. I personally believe that if you want to help someone, you would reach out to that person individually rather than speaking on the public dais. “I live my life like this and it is the almighty who gives. Till the time I am worthy, I will keep playing like this,” he further added.
