Pakistan managed to beat India by four wickets in the Super 4 Asia Cup 2022 match between the two sides. While Virat Kohli put up an impressive performance with the bat, other Indian batters faltered at the crease. The Pakistani innings was led by Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 71 off 51 balls and took the match away from India’s hands.

The second India vs Pakistan match in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament, just like its predecessor, was an intense affair between two evenly matched rivals. Out of the many memorable moments that the clash created, here we present the top five:

India’s fiery start

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started things off in spectacular fashion, opting for big hits from the get-go. The duo contributed a 26-ball 50 partnership that made way for Virat Kohli to anchor the Indian innings to a solid 181. The first-wicket 50 between Sharma and Rahul was the quickest ever in any India vs Pakistan match till date.

Poor shot selection and Pakistan bowlers restricted India

Poor shot selection proved to be India’s bane in the match. From captain Rohit Sharma, the highest run-getter in T20I history to Suryakumar Yadav, the current no.3 on the ICC rankings of men’s T20I batters, Indian batters’ sense of judgement was questionable throughout the innings. Even Rishabh Pant, who has a proven track record in T20I, could not time his reverse sweep correctly and ended up losing his wicket to a Shadab Khan delivery.

Rizwan’s blistering knock helped Pakistan seize the match

Mohammad Rizwan, the Pakistani batter-wicketkeeper, was the anchor of their innings. His 51-ball 71 helped the Babar Azam-led team avenge their loss in the previous encounter between the two sides.

Nawaz’s promotion worked

Mohammad Nawaz, who was sent out to bat up the order, took to the crease when Pakistan were 63/2 after 8.4 overs. His six fours and two sixes solidified the Pakistani innings and put the Rohit Sharma-led side under pressure.

India miss the extra bowler

India missed the extra bowler in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Deepak Hooda replaced Jadeja in the team but did not bowl a single over.
