Sanchari Vijay, born on July 18, 1983, was an Indian theatre actor and primarily works in Kannada cinema. He has also worked in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema. The name Sanchari comes from a theatre group of the same name of which Vijay was a vital part.

Vijay was also given the National Film Award for Best Actor for acing the character of a transgender in %u2018Naanu Avanalla…Avalu%u2019.

With the National award win, he became the third actor after MV Vasudeva Rao and Charuhasan to win the National Award for Best Actor for performing in a Kannada film. Apart from this, another film in which he was the protagonist, ‘Harivu’ won the award for ‘Best Feature Film’.

He made his film debut with the 2011 Kannada film %u2018Rangappa Hogbitna%u2019. He followed it up with a small role in Rama Rama ‘Raghu Rama’. He then received recognition for his acting skills in ‘Dasaval’. He then worked in Oggarane (2014) and as lead actor subsequently in %u2018Harivu%u2019 (2014).

He is known little for his commercial movies as most of his works are non-canocial and theatre. His other works include %u2018Oggarane%u2019 a Kannada remake of the Malayalam film, %u2018Salt and Pepper%u2019.
