India will observe National Vaccination Day on Tuesday and this year the day holds great importance. Last year, the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic that infected and killed millions of people globally and in India. The tally of people, who have received the first jab anti-COVID-19 vaccine, crossed the 30 million mark in India on Monday, as the nation kickstarted its mass immunisation against coronavirus programme, the world’s largest, on January 16.

The National Vaccination Day is more significant this year as the government needs to make sure that there is no vaccine hesitation. It gives a perfect chance to spread awareness that the vaccine has minimal side effects and does not harm in any way.

Throughout 2020, people kept wondering about when and how will the COVID-19 vaccine be produced and put to use. And the introduction of the vaccine has provided us with a sense of relief.

The National Vaccination Day is celebrated every year to spread awareness about the importance of vaccination. For over a hundred years, vaccines have saved people from a lot of diseases that would hinder the progress of humanity.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccines have brought the world together in a manner that we have not seen before. India has emerged as a world leader in the vaccination drive against COVID-19. Not only India is running the biggest vaccination drive, the country has helped a lot of other countries too by supplying vaccines.

As per the WHO, a vaccination saves around 2-3 million lives annually. After the COVID vaccine is here, the government has been taking initiatives to ensure that the vaccine has a wider reach. For the ones who don’t know, senior citizens above the age of 60 have started getting vaccines across the country and those above 45, who have co-morbidities listed by the government can get vaccinated as well.
