India is home to 3000 households with a net worth of more than Rs 1000 crore, Hurun India Wealth Report revealed in 2020. According to Forbes World’s Billionaires list 2021, the number of billionaires in India rose to 140 this year from 102 in 2020, despite a pandemic.

These billionaires have flaunted extravagant houses over the years. From Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia to Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat, some of the most expensive private houses are found in India.

Here is the list of the five most expensive private residents in India:

1. Antilia – 12,000 Crores: The most expensive private residence in India – Antilia – is owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani. The 27-story building is located at the Altamont road in Mumbai. Antilia is designed by Chicago-based architects Perkins and Will and has three helipads, air traffic control, a 168-car garage, a ballroom, 9 high speed elevators, a 50-seat theatre and terrace gardens. The skyscraper also flaunts a snow room that spits out snowflakes from the walls. The building is 568 feet tall and spread over 400,000 sq ft. As per Forbes, Antilia is priced between Rs 6,000 crore and Rs 12,000 crore.

2. JK House – 6000 crores: Raymond Group’s chairman Gautam Sanghania owns a 30 story house spread over 16,000 square feet. The JK House is located at Breach Candy, Mumbai. It is the second-most expensive building in the country and is valued at Rs 6000 crore. The JK House has a spa, two private swimming pools, a gym, a recreational area and a helipad.

3. Abode – 5000 crores: While Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia sits on the top of this list, brother Anil Ambani’s Abode ranks third. Abode is almost 70 metres high and is spread over 16,000 square feet. It has a helipad and a few helicopters too. According to Business Insider Abode is valued at Rs 5000 crore.

4. Jatia House – 425 crores: Owned by industrialist KM Birla, the Jatia House is spread across 30,000 square feet. According to reports, it is reported to have 20 bedrooms with teakwood ceilings. KM Birla purchased this Malabar Hills house in a 2015 auction for Rs 425 crore. The house has a central courtyard and a garden that opens up to a pond.

5. Mannat – 200 crores: Located at bandstand in Bandra, Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat has gradually become a tourist spot. King Khan bought the property in 2001 and renamed it – to Mannat- in 2005.

Mannat is located in Bandra, Mumbai.

Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan and architect-designer Kaif Faquih are the engineers behind the majestic six-story building. Mannat has multiple bedrooms and living areas, a gymnasium, pool, library, and a personal auditorium. Red Studio founder Rajiv Parekh is now in charge of renovations.
