World Food Day is celebrated around the world on October 16. The day is used to make people aware of hunger and encourage them to help people who are suffering from hunger. This year the theme is “Safe food now for a healthier tomorrow”

World Food Day has been celebrated since 1981, when members of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) proposed at the 20th General Conference of member countries that a food be celebrated to remind the world that many go hungry.
