Winter is on its way and it is not so good for the health of our scalp. With the cold weather, the season also brings dry scalp, hair breakage, dandruff and a whole lot of problems that nobody wants to tackle. So, it becomes crucial to take extra care of your hair and keep your scalp nourished.

Here are some tips and tricks that you can include in your hair care routine:

Do not wash your hair with hot water

Be it any season, never wash your hair with hot water. The high temperature squeezes all the moisture from your scalp leaving behind frizzy hair that is hard to repair. If you still don’t want to wash your hair with cold water, then make the temperature lukewarm.

Use a hair mask once a week

Just like weekly face masks for healthy skin, commit to a weekly hair mask for a healthy scalp. Hair masks are pretty quick and easy to use. They also reverse the dry action that cold weather spells upon you. Masks are a perfect way to smoothen and add shine to your hair.

Never leave your house with wet hair

The encounter of wet hair with cold winds often leads to a lot of damage. First air dry your hair and then go outside. If you have an urgency then you can blow dry your hair, but don’t exercise it frequently.

Oil-based scalp massage

Again, this tip is not limited to winters. Oil massaging your scalp restores moisture and instantly revitalize dry, damaged hair. Select a lightweight oil such as argan oil and coconut oil to nourish, strengthen and protect your hair roots.

Avoid washing your hair frequently

Washing hair daily or alternatively is not a choice in this season. Over-washing can cause your hair to fall early. Try extending the time between your washes as much as possible. If you typically wash your hair every day, then take a break of 3-4 days. If you are still tempted, then try dry shampoo here and there.
