Restaurants in India are always going viral for their giant thalis, culinary challenges, themes, and fusion foods that aren’t necessarily appetising.

However, discounts and special offers continue to be the most popular technique of attracting the attention of locals and social media users. It is a tried-and-true marketing strategy on which eateries of all types rely. Many businesses have devised inventive and novel ways to give discounts to clients. Consider this Hyderabad-based eatery.

‘Dakshin 5’ is causing quite a stir with its new offer, which not only offers reduced meals but also encourages good manners among its customers.

All customers who say phrases like ‘thank you,’ ‘please,’ and ‘good afternoon’ when making their orders will receive ‘courtesy discounts.’

D. Ramchandram, a Public Relations Consultant in Hyderabad, published a video describing the offer on Twitter.

A thali (set dinner) at Dakshin-5 costs Rs 165 in total. However, if a consumer requests it with the words ‘a Thali please,’ Rs 15 is removed from the original price. If a diner says to a server, ‘good afternoon, a thali please,’ it is reduced by additional Rs 15.

“Common courtesy has become increasingly rare. Dakshin-5, on the other hand, is determined to make a difference. Simply stroll into this restaurant, say please, thank you, have a nice day, make your order, and receive discounts,” D. Ramachandran said.

The managing partners of Dakshin-5, A K Solanky and Sanjeev Kumar Blake, stated in a news release that the discounts rise with more courtesies.

“Not only will this inspire consumers to be more courteous, but it will also put a smile on their faces,” Solanky added.

“This is an initiative I’ve seen in the West.” It dispels discomfort and will aid in the formation of food connections as well as the cultivation of a win-win culture,” stated Blake.

Blake went on to say that restaurant employees are frequently mistreated, even when they are not at fault. “Common decency has become quite rare, and we are attempting to restore that culture,” he remarked.

Dakshin-5 specialises in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana cuisine.
