The Denver Broncos‘ first 12 weeks of the 2022-23 season have been disastrous, but Sunday appeared to be a new low point.

Sunday’s 23-10 loss against the already struggling Carolina Panthers might have completely tainted the image of quarterback Russell Wilson forever.

After acquiring Wilson for a slew of draft picks this offseason, the Broncos were expected to be AFC contenders with the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback at the helm. Instead, they are 3-8 after 12 weeks and appear to be on track for more changes this offseason.

The boiling point for the team this week came when Wilson and nose tackle Mike Purcell came to blows in front of everybody.

Fans were ashamed of the star player’s poor performance yet again.

Following a loss to Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11, Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett appeared to throw Wilson under the bus.

Denver led 16-13 with two minutes remaining and faced a third-and-ten situation. The team could have easily chewed time, but Wilson chose to go for it instead, ultimately failing to complete the pass. They had no choice but to punt the ball. On the following possession, Las Vegas covered 71 yards in seven plays. The Raiders tied the game with 16 seconds left in regulation and went on to win 22-16 in overtime on a Davante Adams touchdown.

After the loss, Hackett was questioned about his decision. The Broncos’ first-year head coach admitted to calling a pass play on third-and-10, but he also told Wilson to keep the clock running no matter what.
