The India A cricket team is set to play three four-day matches against New Zealand A in September and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team for the four-day series on Sunday, August 21. Apart from the four-day series, the two sides will also be playing three one-day series in September.

India A squad will be led by Shubman Gill in the four-day matches, who has impressed in recent tours to West Indies and Zimbabwe and has made a strong opening partnership with Shikhar Dhawan.

As many as seven cricketers who have represented the country on the International stages have been included in the squad, including four players who are currently part of the Indian squad in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Six players with Test experience representing India have also made the selection, including captain Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar. Apart from them, several young players who impressed in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season have also been picked for India A squad against New Zealand A for the series in September.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shams Mulani and Shardul Thakur are part of the Mumbai team who impressed in the last Ranji Trophy season whereas Yash Dubey, Shubham Sharma and Rajat Patidar helped Madhya Pradesh to reach and win the final of the 2021-22 season, have been included in the squad.

Meanwhile, New Zealand has also announced its A squad for the upcoming tour of India recently. 

The first of the four-day matches will begin on September 1 whereas the first one-day game will be played on September 22. The four-day matches will be played in Bangalore, meanwhile, the one-day matches will be hosted in Chennai.
